چکیده
The question of whether object representations in the human brain are objectcentered or viewer-centered has motivated a variety of experiments with divergent results. A key issue concerns the visual recognition of objects seen from novel views. If recognition performance depends on whether a particular view has been seen before, it can be interpreted as evidence for a viewer-centered representation. Previous experiments used unfamiliar objects to provide the experimenter with complete control over the observers previous experience with the object. In this study, we tested whether human recognition shows viewpoint dependence for the highly familiar faces of well known colleagues and for the observer's own face. We found that observers are poorer at recognizing their own pro le, whereas there is no di erence in response time between frontal and pro le views of other faces. This result shows that extensive experience and familiarity with one's own face is not su cient to produce viewpoint invariance. Our result provides strong evidence for viewer-centered representation in human visual recognition even for highly familiar objects.

Clinical Utility of Echocardiography for Early and Late Pulmonary Hypertension in Preterm Infants: Relation with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Background We evaluated early and late pulmonary hypertension (PH) in preterm infants and its relation with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Methods Sixty-seven preterm infants < 30 weeks' gestation underwent echocardiography within 14 days after birth for early PH and over 28 days after birth for late PH. We measured tricuspid regurgitation (TR) peak velocity, pulse Doppler-derived myocardi...

| The MPI 1:1 de nition includes routines for nonblocking point-to-point communication that are intended to support the overlap of communication with computation. We describe two experiments that test the ability of MPI implementations to actually perform this overlap. One experiment tests synchronization overlap, and the other tests data-transfer overlap. We give results for vendorsupplied MPI...
